Fairford & District U3A is a friendly, lively association, open to anyone over 50 who is not in full-time employment. University is used in its original sense of a group of people coming together to learn. We enjoy working, playing and learning together for fun, not for qualifications. We have one monthly, general meeting in the Palmer Hall, Fairford, at which we have an outside speaker; the rest of the time we meet in interest groups, invariably in the day-time, which are organised by members and which can be broadly divided into the three categories of: Study, Crafts and Hobbies, Physical Activity. The Third Age Trust is the national representative body for U3As in the UK. The individual U3As are self-help, self-managed co-operatives and are basically autonomous. The Fairford and District U3A has been running since 1984 and our membership is just over 300. If you are interested, take a look at our website: www.fairfordu3a.org.uk or contact our membership secretary, Ivor Price on 01285 712417.
